Their SDEA bargaining team met with the district on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. We reached agreements on: Finally, the parties reached provisional agreements on job sharing, grievance procedures and the abolition of the article on days off. After two days of productive negotiations with the district, our SDEA bargaining team reached an agreement on the impact and impact of implementing distance learning for the rest of the school year. This agreement provides the necessary flexibility that is needed at a time when we need to balance our work with our family and family obligations in a way we have never had to do before. For this reason, this agreement includes strong safeguards to protect the need for flexibility for our members. One. Note that if the SDEA enters into an agreement to compensate guest teachers during the closure period, some guest teachers who have received unemployment benefits may be asked to repay some or all of the unemployment benefits to the state. SDEA suggests contacting the Department of Economic Development (ESD) ca if you have any questions about the simultaneous collection of salaries and SDUSD unemployment benefits, especially in the event that an agreement is reached between SDEA and SDUSD on the payment of guest teachers. Q. What happens if SDEA and SDUSD reach an agreement on the payment of guest teachers during the closure and a guest teacher has received unemployment benefits? Following the briefings, all SDEA members will have the opportunity to vote on the ratification of this TA before school begins and as we continue to work on a comprehensive, science-based safety plan. If, after a careful reading of the TA and before the information events, you have any clarification questions about the TA, please send them to SDEABargainingUpdate@sdea.net.

The parties met yesterday, Wednesday 29 July, for the eighth round of negotiations on the continuation of e-learning. On Thursday morning, after more than 14 hours of negotiations, we reached a provisional agreement (TA) on the continuation of online learning. The SDEA and the SDUSD met on Monday, August 25, 2014 to negotiate the successor agreement 2014-2015. Half of the day of negotiations resulted in two provisional agreements. The parties negotiated the working hours, which is a battle for 5! Priority. In addition, safety conditions and safety records were discussed. This agreement is not only a testament to the efforts and skills of an SDEA bargaining team that invested more than a year and hundreds of hours to secure a strong contract, but also to the great energy and pressure exerted on the district by the 7,000 SDEA members and the community. This agreement ensures that the assessment of an SDEA member cannot be negatively affected due to the quality of their distance learning. SDEA members voted overwhelmingly in favour of ratifying the 2014-2017 SDEA/SDUSD collective agreement. Our fight for 5! Victories are now becoming a reality.

The improvements we have made to our contract have been made because SDEA members and parents have organized themselves to improve working and learning conditions in our schools. This agreement will help us rebuild our schools after years of cuts and shared sacrifices. Fighting for 5! We`ve also built the strongest relationships we`ve ever had with parents and community members. In the coming months, we will continue to fight together to improve education financing. Together, we are stronger! The members` organization provided the necessary leverage at the negotiating table to reach an agreement that included all Fight for 5! Priorities, including equitable compensation, maintain our world-class performance, improve class sizes and case counts, increase elementary school readiness time, and add more student support services. This agreement requires strict safety standards and allows for the appointment of TK-5 students on-site in accordance with all the terms of our July 30 e-learning contract, including the prohibition for members to be forced to work on-site, meaning educators can offer these appointments on a voluntary basis. For additional agreements, such as MEMORS on lesson plans and teacher reports (preparation days), among others, current cover letters with SDUSD and other useful documents, please visit the Memoranda of Understanding and Other Agreements page. The agreement also protects our fully paid family health services for the duration of the contract, an important priority for SDEA members. SDEA members are the only certified bargaining unit with fully paid health care services in San Diego County. All agreements concluded are subject to agreement on the remaining outstanding points and may be amended pending a provisional agreement on the entire contract.

Our recently ratified Memorandum of Understanding on Online Lifelong Learning included an agreement to continue to negotiate the impact and impact of the eventual return to on-site teaching. Using stricter safety standards recommended by UCSD, and in anticipation of updated CRPD guidelines released Tuesday, your bargaining team has reached an agreement with the district on a small „phase one“ plan that will allow educators to provide time-based support to students with the greatest needs in TK-5 classes. SDUSD`s proposal lamentably fell short of the goal of making the classroom a priority and bringing us closer to an agreement. Their participation in rallies, signing and distributing petitions, emails to the Superintendent and school board members, or conversations with parents gave the bargaining team the influence and strength to reach an agreement that met the needs of our members and students. In future contract negotiations, it is important that members provide the SDEA office with a personal email address so that we do not have to rely on the district`s messaging system. This is also important because SDEA is moving to an electronic voting system rather than a paper voting system. If SDEA does not have a correct personal email address for you, please visit www.sdeaemail.com. Led by the three pillars of SDEA members for the safe reopening of our school buildings (see below), the SDEA and SDUSD negotiating teams reached a provisional agreement (TA) this morning for the safe resumption of face-to-face teaching and services. Nanette Najera (Construction Specialist/Office): najera_n@sdea.net Lisa Steinberg (Members/Secretary): steinberg_l@sdea.net Rafal Dobrowolski (Contracts Specialist): dobrowolski_r@sdea.net The proposed salary increase for the district is due to pressure from our members, the community and the support of parents. We must continue our organizational efforts to reach a final agreement.

Just as we ask the district to be flexible, this agreement provides the same flexibility and the same thanks to our students who face potential difficulties in accessing their education at home. The parties have reached an agreement that allows nurses to participate in on-site testing on a voluntary basis. The testing program will begin at ten identified school sites and will be extended to all sites based on the capacity of the UCSD test team. The Parties will use this phase one test pilot project to guide the expansion of the test plan into subsequent phases. „The words of the preliminary agreement represent the best intentions to safely open the doors of all our schools, regardless of your location or grade level. But the words and intent behind them will depend heavily on our respect and responsibility to each other. – Mary Gantz, School Nurse and Bargaining Team Member The three-year agreement (valid from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017) includes: If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at sdeaelections@sdea.net. **SDEA and SDUSD have already entered into an agreement on an average of 24 to 1 TK-3 in accordance with the California State Act of July 1, 2015. In addition, the parties agreed to an allocation of 32.13 to 1 for 4 to 6 teachers. Please take the time to read this update and the attached agreements carefully.

SDEA President Kisha Borden and Vice President Kyle Weinberg will review the agreements at today`s Facebook Live at 5:30 p.m. .m. Below are the highlights of what we have won, as well as the full preliminary agreements. On Thursday, May 8, SDEA and SDUSD met for the second day of negotiations on a follow-up agreement to our contract. SDEA President Bill Freeman and SDUSD Superintendent Cindy Marten were present at the beginning of the meeting to make some statements to the parties. The parties have reached an agreement on the participation of invited teachers in the first phase, which will provide additional work opportunities for VTs. SDEA and the district continued negotiations on March 2 and 4. The AEDS bargaining team is committed to taking the time now to achieve fair contract performance! After a total of 21 hours of negotiations this week, preliminary agreements were reached on health services, working hours, transfer and assessment. The parties have also exchanged proposals on special education and class sizes, and some movement has been included in each of these articles, but no preliminary agreement has yet been reached. The SDEA and the district negotiated for 12 hours yesterday, March 2 – the longest meeting in ten months of negotiations. Provisional agreements have been concluded in the areas of health services, hours of work, transfers and evaluation.

All agreements reached yesterday are subject to agreements on the statutes of salary, class size, special education and guest teachers, and can be amended until a provisional agreement is reached on the entire contract. Based on the progress made at the table, the parties added an additional negotiating session tomorrow, 4 March. A detailed update of the negotiations will be sent after tomorrow`s meeting. Please read the summary of provisional agreements carefully. .
